Sponsored Content Policy
Paid content is labelled before you read a word of it, and it never buys editorial coverage or a place in the directory.
We'd rather be clear about this than clever: some of what you read here may one day be paid for by a brand. When that happens, you'll know, because we'll label it. This policy explains how.
What counts as sponsored content
Anything where a third party pays for, or provides material benefit in exchange for, the content or its placement. That includes a sponsored article, a paid placement in a guide, a branded recipe in partnership with a producer, an advertorial, and an affiliate link where we earn a commission on a purchase.
How we label it
- Sponsored articles carry a "Sponsored" or "Paid partnership with [brand]" label above the headline, visible before you start reading.
- Sponsored content never appears inside our reviews, our guides or our blog's editorial listings without that label.
- Affiliate links are disclosed in the article, in plain words, near the link or in a note at the top.
- Adverts appear as adverts, in a defined space, never dressed as editorial.
What sponsorship can't buy
- A place in our blog's editorial writing, or a review.
- A better position for a chef in the directory. Directory order has nothing to do with money.
- Approval of an article before it's published, or a say in what it says.
- Our editorial opinion. If a sponsored recipe doesn't work, or we think the product isn't worth the money, we say so, or we don't publish it.
What we won't do
We don't publish sponsored content that makes unverifiable health claims, invents statistics, or promotes anything we wouldn't be comfortable recommending to a friend. We don't accept sponsorship from brands whose products we haven't seen, and we don't accept payment for coverage in our press or "as featured in" material.
Affiliate links
Where we link to a product and earn a commission, the price you pay is the same. We only link to things we'd mention anyway, and we don't allow a commission rate to decide whether something is recommended.
Talking to us about sponsorship
Email james@privatecheffinder.co.uk. We'll ask what you'd like to do, and we'll tell you honestly whether it fits, including saying no.
